Pre-camp (25 May, Monday)
  • What sounds interesting about this project?
You can observe smaller things than a regular microscope.

  • What do you think you can learn from this project?
I can learn how to use the SEM.
I want to explore the different functionalities of the SEM.

  • Any immediate questions regarding the project?
I would want to know the basic parts of the microscope.
I would want to learn the technical terms of the SEM.
I would want to get to know how an electron microscope is made.
  • How does this technology work ?

A Video Showing how an Electron Microscope works and how to use it.

First Day (26 May, Tuesday)

  • What did you do today?
We learnt how to use the SEM and the universal tensile test.

  • What did you learn today?
I learnt about stress and strain and how an SEM works.
  • How do you feel about today’s activities?
I am very happy that I chose this module and find the activities interesting.
I now know more about an SEM and stress and strain.

Second Day (27 May, Wednesday)

  • What did you do today?
We learnt on how to make composites.
  • What did you learn today?
We learnt more about composites and its constituents and its uses in real life.
  • How do you feel about today’s activities?
I feel that it was fun to make composites and know more about them.
  • What new questions do you have regarding the discipline?
I want to know how an SEM can be made simpler to use.

Third Day (28 May, Thursday)

  • Project Sharing Sessions
    • Note down at least three key learning points
  • How do you feel about the SST-NTU Flagship programme?
    • Describe how the programme has affected your understanding of the discipline on a larger scale
    • Share your insights for the programme in general
